Install Mimir

Install the CLI first. You can then explore a local demo or create and connect to a deployment.

Install the release

macOS and Linux:

The bootstrap resolves the latest stable release, verifies its GoReleaser checksum, and installs the downloaded binary. Set MIMIR_VERSION to select a release or MIMIR_INSTALL_DIR to select the binary directory. When that directory is outside PATH, the bootstrap prints the exact command needed to add it.

Interactive installation detects supported harnesses and asks which ones Mimir should configure. Automation must select them explicitly:

Use --harness all to configure every supported harness. go install creates only a binary and does not establish managed ownership, so it is intended for source-oriented development rather than normal installation. Run mimir install afterward to adopt a verified binary when no other binary owner is recorded.

For noninteractive bootstrap installation, pass the harness selection through the downloaded script. For example, append sh -s -- --harness opencode to the shell pipeline, or invoke install.ps1 with -Harness opencode,codex.

Use mimir harness to inspect the persisted selection. mimir enable <name> and mimir disable <name> provide case-insensitive shortcuts for Pi, OpenCode, and Hermes. Disable removes only unchanged receipt-owned artifacts. Modified or unsafe files remain owned and are preserved for later review.

Try the local demo

The demo binds only to loopback and opens synthetic sessions in your browser. It requires no Cloudflare account, credentials, model traffic, Node.js, Bun, Go, or network service. Use mimir demo --no-open to print the URL without opening a browser.
